    About the Presentation
Pharmacy Trends Continue to Remain Elevated Please come learn some of the emerging trends of this industry.
With the introduction of Sovaldi, pharmacy costs have dominated the headlines. News outlets broke a series of stories outlining one-off generic drugs with staggering annual price increases.
Furthermore, there is concern over the introduction of a new class of high cholesterol drugs, PCSK9s, and that these drugs may increase pharmacy costs substantially similar to the Hepatitis C drug rollout. As of early 2016, the impact of these drugs has been negligible due to limited indications for use; however, there still remains industry concern about broader use of these drugs which are significantly more expensive than statins. We expect higher pharmacy trends to continue with high single digit prescription drug trends over the next few years.
In addition to the specialty drugs, we also see higher pricing emerging with the generic and brand manufacturers.
