About the Presentations
Session One – Is It Humor or Harassment?
“Humor” is important for stress relief, morale and creativity. Yet “humor” also results in harassment, defamation or other legal actions. It can create personal liability. It can cost you your job. When does a joke, a cartoon, banter or teasing go over the line? Do you have to sanitize? Must we be “politically correct” – and what "duty of care" do managers have to manage all the sensitivities of a growing racial, sexual, ethnic and religiously diverse workforce? This informative program addresses the humor issue with practicality and solid legal principles.
Learn About:
➢ How humor started as a medical concept
➢ Changing humor
➢ Fun versus the law
➢ Personal liability of partners, owners and key managers: the "undefendables"
➢ Harassment, bullying "making fun of others"
➢ Duty of care for the workplace
➢ Where are the lines between humor and harassment?
➢ Emails and other electronic problems
➢ When teasing leads to violence
➢ You do not have to sanitize; there is a great deal of OK humor
➢ Guidelines for avoiding liability
Session Two – Accountable Openness - Driving Trust and Productivity in Your Culture.
Honest, direct conversations are the exception rather than the norm in corporate environments.
In this interactive session you’ll explore the pervasive inefficiency of withholding and learn how to start creating a culture of Openness in your workplace.
➢ Gain awareness of your own defensive behaviors and how they limit openness in the workplace
o Understand the 7 levels of openness.
➢ Learn to identify the common ways we all communicate unaccountably
o Gain an experience of increased openness
➢ Identify strategies to increase openness and accountability in the workplace.

An entrepreneur at heart, Steve can’t help but create. He has been spending the past 5 years developing illumyx, finally giving companies a way to objectively measure and improve their workplace culture. Illumyx was a finalist in Steve Case’s Rise of the Rest pitch competition in 2017. Steve is married with 4 children. When not working or spending time with his family, he volunteers his time to help integrate entrepreneurial leadership practices in K-12 schools.
